Long neck, full body, excitingly rich with the ability to make you feel all tingly inside and now an international gold medal winner – Black Giraffe is everything you could want in a beer!
Just weeks after hitting bottle shops and bars across Queensland, Black Giraffe, the black coffee lager produced by Burleigh Brewing Co & Zarraffa’s Coffee, has taken home GOLD at the World Beer Championships in the US.
Scoring an amazing 94/100, the judges labelled Black Giraffe ‘exceptional’, with the beer ranking the highest in the Specialty Beer category, scoring higher than two Sam Adams brews from one of the most renowned craft breweries in the States.
Commenting on Black Giraffe, the World Beer Championships said: “Very dark brown colour. Rich and dimensional roasted coffee, bakers chocolate, and dried fruit aromas andflavours with a dry, zesty medium-full body and a long, pure and pervasive barista approved finish. A superb coffee beer with a solid caffeine kick.”
The World Beer Championships are run annually in a series of style-based tasting sessions in a dedicated tasting lab at the Beverage Testing Institute (BTI) in Chicago, and is one of the most professional and highly regarded competitions in the world.
CEO of Zarraffa’s Coffee Kenton Campbell said, “I saw this as the perfect business partnering – a micro brewery and a speciality coffee company – creating a new and exciting product.”
“Doing the beer in itself was amazing. To have it be so amazing and now on the worldwide stage, I’m privileged to be a part of it.”
“It’s great that smaller businesses, coming together, can achieve such wonderful things.”
Burleigh Brewing’slimited releases from their ‘Bit on the Side Dept’ come packaged in dinner-size, 650ml screen-printed, collectible bottles. The perfect size for sharing (but you’ll need to buy two, because you’ll both want a bottle to keep!)
